INPP School Programme
The INPP Developmental Movement School Programme has been designed specifically to be used in schools with groups of children over the course of one academic year. Exercises from the INPP programme for schools should not be used out of context with individual children. This is a shorter and easier version of the individualised clinical programme, designed to cater for a large number of children all at once. It is a short screening assessment to be able to identify, in 15 minutes, if there are sufficient signs of neuromotor immaturity in a child or a group of children. The aim of the programme is to identify risks of underachievement and to provide in-school intervention. This programme is designed for teachers to carry out this assessment and intervention once they have received training in the INPP School Programme.
Unlike the individualised programme carried out in a clinical setting, this is carried out in a group setting and takes the children sequentially through a programme over the course of an academic year, so they can replicate the first year of motor development.
There is a large body of research which has shown that where children who did not need the programme mixed with children who did need the programme and had all been engaged in the same exercises together, the child who was initially not thought of as being in need of the programme had made greater progress than was expected. Their ability to sit still, pay attention, playground behaviour, reading, writing as well as academic skills. Further research has found that there is a correlation between less mature physical skills and lower educational performance.

As Neuro-Developmental Therapist and Educator, I am trained in the INPP School Programme, and I am available to deliver the programme in schools.
During the programme we will be using ‘Assessing Neuromotor Readiness for Learning’ book which is a substantially revised and expanded edition of a long established INPP training manual that has been consistently proven in practice:
Based on the proven INPP model for neuromotor development screening and intervention, which is unique in having been rigorously evaluated in research and practice.
Places emphasis on assessing children’s physical development and understanding how neuromotor skills provide physical foundations for learning success.
Includes a physical intervention programme designed for use in schools (4+ years).
